President Obama has named the Science and Health Education Partnership High School Internship Program at UCSF as one of the 2011 recipients of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring, the White House announced today.

UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital is holding its 2nd annual Art Day featuring a red carpet fashion show featuring hospital gowns completely redesigned by young hospital patients, some of whom will be on hand to talk with news media about their work.

The American Heart Association will today present Gladstone Institutes Senior Investigator and President Emeritus Robert Mahley, MD, PhD, with the 2011 AHA Distinguished Scientist Award, bestowing yet another honor on one of Gladstone’s founding cardiovascular scientists.
