The University of California, Berkeley, UC San Francisco and Stanford University are collaborating on an educational program aimed at commercializing university research and fostering innovation locally and nationally, thanks to a three-year, $3.75 million grant from the National Science Foundation.

One current and three former UCSF scientists are among 11 named as recipients of a major new award aiming at spurring life sciences innovation that’s sponsored by a Russian Internet entrepreneur and Silicon Valley business leaders, including founders of Facebook and Google.

UC San Francisco is developing a management plan for the Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve to keep it a healthy forest, as well as safe and accessible to the community.

Members of the UCSF community are saddened by the loss of former UCSF web specialist Anthony Taliaferro, who died on Feb. 14, 2013. He was 50.
