A study led by cardiologist Gregory Marcus found that higher naturally occurring lithium levels in drinking water were associated with higher rates of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome and supraventricular tachycardia in children in California, with findings validated in New York. The research could offer new insight into why accessory pathways that cause these arrhythmias develop before birth.
